FAQ

There are 4 types of surface among Bruk paving stones:
STANDARD – single-color stones mostly made with the use of Bruk Color Quality technology
MULTIKOLOR – noble paving stones with coloring skillfully combining contrasting colors, creating extremely interesting melanges
CALLISTO – noble washed paving stones with a rough surface made during the production process with the use of specialist washing methods
.

Bruk and Modern Line paving stones are available in several thicknesses:
4 cm – paving stones intended to be used on surfaces on which only non-heavy pedestrian traffic takes place (alleyways, garden paths)
6 cm –  paving stones intended to be used on surfaces on which pedestrian traffic and pedestrian-vehicle traffic up to 3.5 tons takes place (terraces, garden alleys and paths, sidewalks, courtyards, passages, driveways and car parks)
8 cm – paving stones intended to be used on surfaces on which pedestrian traffic, pedestrian-vehicle traffic up to 3.5 tons, vehicle traffic above 3,5 tons with low heavy traffic takes place (terraces, garden alleys and paths, sidewalks, courtyards, passages, driveways and car parks, roads with low heavy traffic)
10 cm and 12 cm –  paving stones intended to be used on surfaces on which pedestrian traffic, pedestrian-vehicle traffic up to 3.5 tons, vehicle traffic above 3,5 tons with low or high heavy traffic takes place (terraces, garden alleys and paths, sidewalks, courtyards, passages, driveways and car parks for passenger cars and lorries, roads with low and high heavy traffic).

Thickness of the stones depends on the location of the soil on which it is to be laid. The higher traffic you have on our surface, the thicker stones you should choose. As a standard, it is assumed that for building of the surroundings of single-family houses, stones with thickness from 4 cm (garden paths and alleys) to 6-8 cm (driveways, sidewalks) are sufficient.

It is assumed that in order to achieve the best aesthetic effect: a simple rule should be applied: for large spaces, larger paving stones fit better and, conversely, for small, narrow areas (paths, alleys), it is best to choose small paving stones which do not need to be cut.

Standard paving stones are cheaper than noble paving stones from about 10% to even 50%. However, regardless of whether we choose cheaper or more expensive stones, the greatest costs will be incurred during their laying. Usually, it is assumed that in the total investments including covering surfaces with paving stones, 70% of all costs is spent on the laying, and only 30% on the stones themselves. With such financial outlays, investing in noble paving stones is no longer as big an expense as it seemed at first.

Noble paving stones offer a wide range of colors and types of surfaces, therefore you can choose one that best suits the style and color of your property.  Secondly, noble paving stones are produced with the use of the most advanced technologies (Bruk Color Quality and Bruk Protect Quality) from the best raw materials in terms of quality, which allows for their long-term and satisfactory use.

Bruk Protect Quality (BPQ) is a special impregnation of products, which reduces soiling and increases durability of products.

Bruk Color Quality (BCQ) is an innovative technology for dyeing of products, giving colors exceptional clarity and durability.

Usually only the top layer of paving stones is dyed. This layer is approximately 1 cm thick and contains colored pigments in addition to the basic raw materials, which, after careful mixing, form a homogeneous mass.

Intensity of color of paving stones from different production batches may be different, because the production of concrete is based on natural raw materials, the color of which is subject to changes. Natural factors such as air humidity and temperature during the maturing process also influence the variability of the shades. Minor color differences are a natural phenomenon, they are not a defect, do not affect the product’s performance and parameters, and do not constitute the basis for a complaint.

Intensity of color of paving stones from different production batches may be different, because the production of concrete is based on natural raw materials, the color of which is subject to changes. This is why it is recommended to purchase paving stones which are planned to be laid from the same production batch.

In order to avoid large-area differences in shades on paved surface resulting from natural shades of paving stones, the so-called 3-Pallet Laying Principle should be applied. In practice, this means that the paving stones from 3 different pallets have to be mixed together when laying a pavement.

Sometimes, bright discolorations, so called lime efflorescence, appear on the surface of concrete products. The efflorescence is the result of natural processes, both physical and chemical, occurring directly inside the concrete and its surroundings, therefore they do not constitute a basis for complaint. You can remove the stains on the surface of the product with available cleaning agents or wait from several months to several seasons.  After this period, lime deposits are automatically washed out and dissolved by rainwater and the discoloration disappears.
